In Memory of our Beloved Aunt Dollie

Our beloved Aunt Dollie passed away on September 14, 2008 at the age of 103 ½ years old.  Though she is dearly missed, we are comforted knowing she is with God and with her family and friends.  You can see by the pictures below of her, she loved life and remained feisty, lovable, and unforgettable all of her life.  Aunt Dollie, You leave a legacy here on earth, we can’t wait to meet up with you again in heaven.

Dollie was born on February 25, 1905 in Skagway, Alaska. Her father died in a railroad accident leaving her mother with 10 children to care for.  Aunt Dollie helped her family earn money by picking berries,  selling eggs, etc.  She moved to Portland as a preteen, outlived 3 husbands, and lived with her niece, Karen, for the last five years of her life.  Before moving to Central Oregon, Dollie lived with her other niece, Bonnie in Oregon City.   She had spent most of her adult life in S.W. Portland, Or and Lincoln City, Or.  Until a few years ago,  she enjoyed doing puzzles, playing video games, telling jokes, and sharing stories of her life in Alaska and as a young girl growing up.   Karen's father, Kelly, was the baby of the group.  Aunt Dollie has outlived all of her siblings and most of her friends.  Karen's son David and Fonda helped care for her the last three 1/2  years of her life.  Thank you to all of those who helped care for her, loved her, and miss her. 

Family and friends are very important.   Since we live throughout Oregon and parts of Washington and California,  pictures, telephone, and internet are important links during the times when we can't be physically together.  The following pictures are not only for internet viewers, but it also is a page where family and friends can visit.  We change the pictures often, depending on what is going on in our lives.

People have asked for a current picture of me, I stay away from the camera, so there aren't many to pick from. --Karen	Mark, my grandson, is David's son. He visited during the summer from California and helped me with yard work and my fountain & pond.

Dollie is wearing her lucky casino cap. Here she is 98 yrs. old. Along with her hat, she wears her lucky tennis shoes (any coins she finds, she puts in the shoes and wears them when she gambles).	Dollie took over Baby, our very first poodle when she came to live with us. Baby slept with her and sat by her when she ate to catch any leftovers "accidentally dropped" by Dollie. Recently, Baby went over the Rainbow, she is missed by all of us.
Dollie and her mother made this quilt together over 60 yrs ago. It is hanging in my living room for all to admire. The flowers in the squares are state flowers.	Hauns is Karen's youngest son with Dollie and his significant other, Soni.

Cindy is my eldest of six children; she has five children and five grandchildren. She went back to school and obtained her nurses' license.	Fonda & phantom pup. She is my right hand with the poodles. Gives, love & tender care.

Tim is middle son. He has 3 beautiful children.	Debbie lives in Beaverton Or with husband & 2 daughters.
